What Is HaloTherapy & How Does It Help?

HaloTherapy, also known as Dry Salt Therapy, is a treatment of finely ground, medical-grade salt that is distributed in a room or chamber from a specialized machine – a halogenerator – in  small puffs of air.  The concept has its roots in the salt mines and caves of Eastern Europe. As the miners chiseled, ground, and hammered the salt in the ideal humidity levels and cooler temps below the Earth’s surface, they experienced natural health benefits such as respiratory like allergies and asthma and clearer skin.

Today, we can offer this same type of environment in a controlled room or chamber in which micro-particles of salt are distributed into the air to be inhaled and exposed to the skin.  Within this space, you can sit, relax, meditate, or even take a short nap.

Why Does HaloTherapy work?

As the salt travels throughout the salt room or chamber, people inhale particles into the respiratory system where they begin to absorb allergens, toxins, and foreign substances.  It breaks loose and clears out the “bad stuff” which then leaves the body either through the nasal passages or the throat.  The salt’s anti-bacterial properties can benefit the skin by absorbing moisture and impurities that may have found their way on or beneath the skin’s surface. It can accelerate cell rejuvenation and improve skin rigidity.

How Can HaloTherapy help you?

HaloTherapy, if regularly practiced, can help reduce inflammation in the respiratory tract and widen the airway passages.  It can accelerate the transportation of mucus and eliminate foreign allergens.

It may provide relief from:

·      asthma

·      allergies

·      the common cold

·      bronchitis

·      COPD

·      sinusitis

·      ear infections

Finally, HaloTherapy can help improve several skin conditions such as psoriasis, itching, eczema, swelling and inflammation, dermatitis, acne, rosacea, and aging.

Salt booths are available in the Lakeville, Mendota Heights, and Apple Valley Centers. Packages can be used at all centers. You can choose from 15- or 30-minute appointments in its salt booth which is housed in its own room – as our saunas are – and spacious enough for two.

Patti’s introduction to yoga took place when her oldest sister showed her some basic poses around a fire in the middle of a campground. This lit a spark in her and moved her to try a class and then another class until she was in love with yoga. This new love grew into a desire to learn more and deepen her understanding of yoga. Patti completed her RYT 200-hour Teacher Training/Advanced Study program at Green Lotus in 2010 and also is trained in yin, restorative, and prenatal yoga. She manages the Apple Valley center. Patti feels that yoga has given her a new outlook on life. She says, “Becoming part of the yoga community has influenced every part of my life. It has shown me how I can transform not only myself, but also the world around me.”
